Atlantic Cruising Yachts and Offshore Sailing School
Yacht Management Opportunities for Owners of Sail and Power Yachts
With increased demand for sail and power courses on catamarans and power cats, Offshore Sailing School would like to immediately add a 4-cabin sailing catamaran in the 40′ to 48′ range, and a 37’ or larger power cat (preferably 4-cabin) for use in its southwest Florida fleet,
Based at Beautiful Destination Resorts with Easy Access to the Gulf of Mexico
All of these boats would be in one or more of our SW Florida locations at South Seas Island Resort on Captiva Island, The Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina on Ft. Myers Beach, the Westin Marina Village on Cape Coral in Tarpon Point Marina on the Caloosahatchee River, or the St. Petersburg Municipal Marina situated right in trendy downtown St. Pete. Currently Offshore Sailing School is teaching power courses only in the British Virgin Islands, but very interested in adding this course to its Florida locations. Sailing cat masts must be less than 65′ in order to get under bridges in southwest Florida.
About Offshore Sailing School and How Yachts in the Management Program Are Used
- Steve and Doris Colgate’s Offshore Sailing School is entering its 55th continuous year of business, having taught more than 150,000 adults and their families to sail, cruise and race.
- Offshore Sailing School students are highly educated business professionals, business owners and leaders – 30% plan to purchase a yacht and 90% plan to bareboat charter – they appreciate learning on a nice yacht!
- Offshore Sailing School teaches close to 2000 adults a year in its cruising courses, on 43’-51’ monohulls and 39’-48’ catamarans and power cats.
- All Offshore Sailing School cruising courses are taught by licensed and certified US Sailing instructors, who are on the boat throughout the first five days of a live aboard cruising course.
- On the afternoon of the 5th day, students take the boat on a 24 hour test cruise, returning it to the dock by noon the next day, but the instructor will ride along as a silent observer if he or she deems the clients are not yet ready to go alone.
- A shore-based cruising course is also available, during which adults learn to handle the yacht during the day but sleep ashore at the resort where the boat is based each night.
- Three Offshore Sailing School Florida locations are at destination resorts with excellent marinas’ and a fourth Florida location is in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida with sailing on Tampa Bay – in the heart of the city with great sailing right outside the marina.
- Southwest Florida International airport easily services our three Southwest Florida locations, and airports in Tampa and St. Pete service that location.
More Reasons Why You Should Consider Placing Your Yacht with Offshore Sailing School
- Offshore Sailing School insures and maintains the yacht, and pays all dock fees.
- The boats are based in Florida where full time dedicated Maintenance Technicians take care of only 4-5 cruising boats; unlike many managed yachts that end up in a large charter fleet in a foreign country.
- Sailing is in protected waters of Pine Island Sound, the Gulf of Mexico right off resort locations, within the ICW, or in Tampa Bay depending on the location.
- Docking is in quiet, protected resort marinas.
- Owner use of his or her yacht is negotiable; currently 2 weeks during the winter and 2 weeks during summer months.
- Complimentary Learn to Sail and Cruising Courses can be made available to an owner as part of the management agreement if this is desired.
- Each branch where cruising boats are located have experienced, full time Branch Managers who oversee maintenance and use of the yachts.
- Chief Operations Manager, Bryce Jackson, oversees the branch managers and works closely with Offshore Sailing School owners, Steve and Doris Colgate, at Company headquarters.
