Offshore Sailing Grad Tom White refreshed his bareboat charter skills, completing his 8th sailing experience with Offshore Sailing School.
Here’s a summary of what he’s done and plans to do next. Sail on, Tom!
“I think this is the 8th sailing adventure I have participated in with OSS. Without exception the instructors have been, well, exceptional: qualified and competent, patient and unflappable. We started with Learn to Sail in Wilmette Harbor in 1993 with the traveling instructor.
We met, whom turned out to be very good friends, with the Markwarts, taking the Cruising/Bareboat Cruising course in St Lucia in 1996. I have done the Performance Sailing, Navigation, Coastal Passage making courses plus the Boat Delivery experience and this Bareboat Charter refresher course, and of course the 2005 Greek Flotilla with Steve and Doris. We’ve chartered with the Markwarts three times (plus the Greek Flotilla) and still keep in touch even though they live in upstate New York.
Next up is a Channel Crossing course in Southampton, UK.
I hope to be out on the boat this weekend!”
